Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an age limit? The thing about children is, they keep getting older, so there's no
particular age cutoff. It functions like an online community, sharing information about playgroups,
yard sales, dentists, preschools, dance and music classes, plumbers, pets,
and so forth. If you have a question, there's almost always someone out there with an
answer. And if you know of something cool happening in the area, pass it along.
Is PGPC religious or political? No. It's simply a discussion group about raising children. We're an informal, not-for-profit group that meets occasionally to do something fun with the kids. We get together a few times a year and try to do at least one activity on a weekend so that working parents can join us. Caretakers and relatives are always welcome. In the Fall we take a zoo trip and in February we have a Valentine's Day party.
Does being part of the group involve babysitting other people's children? No. Everything we do is strictly voluntary. There's no required level of participation for any aspect of this. If you meet other families in the group, particularly if your kids are close in age, and you make informal arrangements to trade off with them, that's great! Also, if you know a good babysitter and are willing to share, that would be great too;-)
What about spam? We don't accept unsolicited commercial email. We do, however, support parents home-based businesses such as Usbourne Books, Pampered Chef, Avon, Tupperware, Creative Memories, and so on and so forth. On the 15th of every month we have a "Business Day", where members can send a brief email about their home business, a cause they support, or anything that on any other day would be considered spam. And at any time during the month, we welcome information about local yard sales and infant/child items that are for sale, trade or giveaway. If you have questions about posting business related material, please email me prior to posting to the list.
Do I have to join to view the "Links" page? No, that's open to everyone. You need a Yahoogroups username and password to view the page, but creating these doesn't mean you have to join the group. Also, creating these or joining any of the groups doesn't mean you have to set up a Yahoo email address for yourself -- you can use your existing address. If you're already a member of another Yahoo group, then you should have no difficulty viewing the page.
And if you have comments or questions that haven't been covered here, please feel free to email Ann Sterling.
